Auburn’s Blake Schuette was recently awarded the 2014 Candi Chamberlin Kubeck Award. The award and $1000 scholarship recognizes the top female pilot in all of collegiate aviation, based upon superior pilot skills and demonstrated student leadership.
Blake is not only a top competitor in regional and national flight competitions, she is also President of the War Eagle Flying Team; which under her leadership earned a seed for the third straight year in the collegiate flying national championships.
Blake is a senior at Auburn; pursuing a double-major in Marketing and Management. The award was established to honor Candi Chamberlin Kubeck, a distinguished professional pilot and industry leader who was the first female airline captain to lose her life in the line of duty. In spite of her heroic efforts, Candi was killed in the crash of Value Jet Flight 592 on May 11, 1996.
